SANTA BARBARA, Calif., July 18, 2023 – LogicMonitor, the leading SaaS-based unified observability platform for hybrid IT infrastructures, proudly announces the third annual recipients of its Women in STEM Scholarship: Kamina Griffin from Spelman College, Tanisha Francis from Kettering University, and Dahlia Vargas from CUNY Hunter. As beneficiaries of the scholarship, Griffin, Francis, and Vargas will each receive $6,000 towards their tuition for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The LogicMonitor scholarship program is committed to supporting young women pursuing STEM careers and breaking down stereotypes as all industries benefit from people having diverse backgrounds and experiences.
“As strong advocates of a diverse workforce, we practice what we preach at LogicMonitor. We believe there isn’t a pipeline problem – only a lack of investment in nurturing a strong, diverse pipeline of tech talent,” said Christina Kosmowski, CEO of LogicMonitor. “Kamina, Tanisha, and Dahlia are all incredible students with a future that can go far in the tech field, and hopefully this scholarship will help them accomplish that. We’re the biggest advocates for the next generation of talent turning the tides on an all too long history of inequality in tech.”
Despite women making up nearly half of the U.S. workforce, their representation in the STEM workforce remains significantly lower at just 29 percent. Through the Women in STEM Scholarship, LogicMonitor seeks to address this imbalance, providing support to encourage women to pursue STEM fields at the higher education level.
“Being a recipient of the LogicMonitor Women in STEM Scholarship means more than words knowing that this funding will help me continue my journey as a young, black woman pursuing STEM,” said Kamina Griffin from Spelman College.
The program is open to women pursuing a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in STEM from an accredited U.S. college or university. This year’s recipients demonstrate the variety within STEM fields, with Griffin studying Biochemistry, Francis majoring in Computer Engineering, and Vargas dedicated to Human Biology.
Francis, who is studying at Kettering University, shared her gratitude for the award: “I am beyond grateful to have received this scholarship because it puts me one step closer to achieving my bachelor’s degree and… breaking the shackles of poverty from my life and my family’s life! What winning this scholarship means to me is hope!”
Vargas, a first-generation college student from CUNY Hunter, summed up the significance of the award: “Being awarded this scholarship means everything to me… I can make the most of the opportunities given to me without the stress of affording life necessities.”
