v.171 Release Notes

Last updated on 27 March, 2024

Highlights

  • Feature Highlights: Create new log pipelines and log alert conditions using log queries. New monitoring for service-level AWS ECS Container Insights metrics and Palo Alto SD-WAN sites and elements. New EA and GD Collector releases.
  • General Updates: Expanded support for the PagerDuty EU API URLs. For LM Cloud, updated AWS CloudWatch metric timestamps.
  • Updated Monitoring: New modules to monitor AWS Backups, to support Telnet in Common Configs, and to add self-monitoring for Kubernetes KSM, and more.

Feature Highlights

Log Pipeline and Log Alert Conditions Improvements

You can now use the Logs Query Language when creating log pipelines and log alert conditions. Log queries allow you to filter and parse events using logical operators and log metadata values. Log pipeline and log alert creation now opens in a panel at the bottom of the Logs page instead of in a popup modal.

AWS ECS ContainerInsights Updates

We moved the service-level AWS ECS ContainerInsights DataSource to a new multi-instance DataSource, AWS ECS ContainerInsights Service. We added Dynamic Thresholds on each of the complex datapoints, and enabled Dynamic Thresholds on the existing complex Datapoints in all existing ECS DataSources. For more information see LogicModule Releases.

New Palo Alto SD-WAN Monitoring

We released a new suite of modules for Palo Alto SD-WAN (formerly CloudGenix SD-WAN) monitoring sites and traffic they generate, as well as CloudGenix SD-WAN elements (or devices) and their statuses. For more information, see Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN Monitoring.

New Collector Releases

EA Collector 32.100

EA Collector 32.100 released on 3 June 2022. This collector release contains improvements to Netscan policies for scanning CIDR ranges. For the full list of updates, see EA Collector 32.100 Release Notes.

GD Collector 32.000

GD Collector 32.000 was released on 3 June 2022 and is based on the previously released EA Collector 31.200. For the full list of updates, see GD Collector 32.000 Release Notes.

General Updates

Alerting

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where multiple SMS notifications were being sent even though alerts were cleared.

Dashboards

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the SLA Dashboard widget from rendering properly if it contained special characters.

LM Cloud

Enhancements

  • For AWS CloudWatch data, updated metric timestamps to match the timestamps seen in AWS CloudWatch.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in the Azure Integration setup that displayed a blank screen when users clicked the Get Subscription button on the permissions page.

LM Integrations

Enhancements

  • We have expanded support for the PagerDuty EU API URLS. Now you can use a PagerDuty URL Region that you prefer for the integration.

LM Logs

Known Issues

  • The Clear on Acknowledge function is not intuitive when adding log alert conditions. The Auto Clear after setting will clear alerts after the specified time in minutes, even if the toggle is off. Alerts will only be acknowledge if the toggle for the setting is on.

Push Metrics

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue in the OpenMetrics DataSource Wizard that prevented you from resizing columns.

Looking Ahead

In this section, you will find announcements about upcoming beta features, updates about ongoing beta features, and information about the end-of-life of existing features.

Troubleshooting WMI Collection Notice

Microsoft published a Windows DCOM Server security feature bypass (CVE-2021-26414) to address vulnerabilities with WMI. You need to first patch the Collector device and then the monitored device to the latest updates to resolve the issue. For more information, see Data Collection Failure due to WMI Vulnerabilities.

MongoDB Collector Type Remove Notice

The future LogicMonitor EA Collector 32.200 release will no longer have MONGO as a separate collector type. Upgrading to this release will remove all “mongo” settings from agent.conf. You can still use other collector types, such as SCRIPT, and DataSources to monitor MongoDB instances. For more information, see MongoDB Monitoring.

Azure China Regions Monitoring Beta

Select users can opt-in and start monitoring their Azure China Cloud accounts. Contact LogicMonitor Support to enable this beta feature for your LogicMonitor portal. After the feature is enabled:

  1. Add a new Cloud account to be tied to your China-hosted region using the Cloud Account (Legacy) option.
  2. In the Permissions tab, select the China account checkbox.
  3. In the Services tab, select the China regions you want to monitor.

If you need additional assistance, contact LogicMonitor Support.

Old Alert Page Removal Notice

Support for the old Alert page (https://accountname.logicmonitor.com/santaba/uiv4/alert) has been removed. Issues related to the old Alert page are no longer being addressed and access to the page will be removed with an upcoming release.

To ensure that you are using the most up-to-date Alerts page, click Alerts in the LogicMonitor Navigation sidebar or append “/uiv4/alerts” to your LogicMonitor URL.
