v.183 Release Notes

Last updated on 07 October, 2024

Highlights

  • Feature Highlights: Improvements to Microsoft Azure Databricks monitoring. Customized alert messages for Microsoft Teams.
  • General Updates: Added support for new AWS regions, new datapoints to track metrics for AWS Route 53 virtual network cards and AWS Elasticache Redis resource utilization, new filtering options for monitoring Kubernetes objects, and more.
  • Updated Monitoring: New modules to monitor AWS RabbitMQ Queue and Microsoft Azure Databricks cluster. New modules to discover and display relationships for Microsoft Azure App Service Plan, Azure Virtual Machines, and Azure VMScaleSet.

Feature Highlights

Improvements to Microsoft Azure Databricks Monitoring

This release includes the following updates to monitoring for Microsoft Azure Databricks:

  • Improved Azure Databricks datasources to remove completed jobs that are not discovered in a more timely manner. This allows you to focus on the jobs that need attention.
  • Added support for Azure Databricks Application Status monitoring. This allows you to know when applications are not in good status.
  • Azure Databricks Cluster monitoring now uses cluster names instead of IDs.

For more information, see Monitoring Azure Databricks in the product documentation.

Customized Alert Messages for Microsoft Teams

You can now customize the alert body that is sent to the Microsoft Teams Channel. You can customize this message in the integration in your LogicMonitor portal. For more information, see Microsoft Teams Integration Setup in the product documentation.

General Updates

Alerts

Enhancements

  • Updated the behavior of alert delivery. After you disable alert delivery (disable the Enable Alert Delivery option), you will no longer receive updates when users acknowledge the alert or edit the existing alert to add a note.

Cloud Monitoring

Enhancements

  • Added support for 4 new AWS regions: ap-south-2, eu-south-2, eu-central-2, me-central-1.
  • Added filtering capabilities for the Amazon CloudWatch Active Discovery method. You may find this useful for more granularly controlling what gets discovered.
  • You can now track AWS Route 53 virtual network cards with new datapoints EndpointHealthyENICount and EndpointUnHealthyENICount.
  • You can now track resource utilization for AWS Elasticache Redis with new datapoints DatabaseMemoryUsagePercentage and EngineCPUUtilization.
  • Removed dynamic thresholds on the AvailableMemoryBytes metric for Microsoft Azure virtual machine datasources, because a more effective alert threshold was added recently with AvailableMemoryPercentage.
  • Updated the datasource Microsoft_Azure_BlogStorage_Capacity to report the index capacity metric.

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue where alerts were not properly generated in all cases for the AWS_Backup_Vaults_24h DataSource when data is collected only once per day.
  • Fixed an issue with tag filters on Microsoft Azure BackupProtectedItems and RecoveryProtectedItems.
  • Fixed an issue with the AWS RDS permission check to include a check for the EC2 DescribeNetworkInterfaces API, which it uses to populate AWS RDS metadata.
  • Corrected the metric path for datapoints in the AWS_DirectConnect_VirtualInteface datasource to fix and issue with data collection from Amazon CloudWatch.

Container Monitoring

Enhancements

  • Added new filtering capabilities to monitor Kubernetes objects based on their state. For example, you can now monitor Persistent Volumes only when they are in the “Using” state. With this capability, you can optimize your monitoring costs while ensuring that the cluster is fully monitored.
  • Updated all Kubernetes ConfigSources to provide more informative error messages.

Fixed Issues

  • If your Kubernetes resource contains annotations that update constantly, you can now remove those annotations from monitoring to minimize performance impact during updates.

Reporting

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue with the format of the sender email address for Reports.

Some collectors were observed to have CPU spikes when scripts created a new GroovyShell object, so we updated the snippet loader to remove the creation of this object in order to improve the performance.

To ensure monitoring is not disrupted when updating, verify that all Collectors are version EA 32.100 or greater, or use LogicMonitor_Collector_Snippets DataSource to update the snippet loader.
