Nutanix HyperConverged Infrastructure

Last updated on 27 February, 2025

Nutanix systems are monitored via SNMPv3. LogicMonitor will auto-discover Nutanix devices provided SNMP is enabled. For more information on enabling SNMP for Nutanix devices, see the Configuring SNMP documentation provided by Nutanix.

Requirements for Nutanix Systems Compatibilty

LogicMonitor Nutanix modules are compatible with Nutanix versions 6.5 and 6.8 and 6.10.

Note: Earlier versions may work but are unsupported by Nutanix. Contact LogicMonitor if you have issues with versions later than what are listed.

Collector version 32.400 or higher.

SMNP must be enabled in the environment.

Adding Resources into Monitoring

Add your SNMP-enabled Nutanix resources into monitoring. For more information on adding resources into monitoring, see Adding Resources.

Import LogicModules

Install all Nutanix LogicModules from the LogicMonitor’s Module Exchange. For more information, see the list of LogicModules in Package. If these LogicModules are already present, ensure you have the most recent version of each module.

Assuming all previous setup requirements have been met, data collection will automatically start once the LogicModules are imported.

LogicModules in Package

LogicMonitor’s package for Nutanix consists of the following LogicModules. For full coverage, import the following LogicModules into your platform:

Display NameTypeDescription
Nutanix_Product_InfoPropertySourceRetrieves product info from Nutanix clusters.
Nutanix_HypervisorsDataSourceMonitors the Nutanix Cluster hypervisor CPU & memory utilization, IOPS, bandwidth, packet drops and VMs.
Nutanix_DisksDataSourceMonitors the Nutanix Cluster disk IOPS, bandwidth, latency, utilization and operational state.
Nutanix_Controller_VMsDataSourceMonitors the Nutanix Cluster Controller VM’s service status, memory and CPU information.
Nutanix_ContainersDataSourceMonitors the Nutanix Cluster container IOPS, bandwidth, latency and utilization.
Nutanix_VirtualMachinesDataSourceMonitors the individual virtual machines currently being hosted on the Nutanix Cluster, monitoring IOPS, bandwidth, CPU utilization, latency and power state.
Nutanix_Cluster_GlobalStatsDataSourceMonitors the global statistics of the Nutanix cluster such as IOPS, bandwidth, latency, storage and operating status.
Nutanix_StoragePoolsDataSourceMonitors Nutanix storage pool capacity, utilization, IOPS, I/O bandwidth and latency.

When setting static datapoint thresholds on the various metrics tracked by this package’s DataSources, LogicMonitor follows the technology owner’s best practice KPI recommendations.

Recommendation: If necessary, adjust these predefined thresholds to meet the unique needs of your environment. For more information on tuning datapoint thresholds, see Tuning Static Thresholds for Datapoints.
