Recommendations Widget
Last updated on 15 April, 2025The Cost Optimization – Recommendations widget displays cloud service recommendations directly on your LogicMonitor dashboard. Specify how to aggregate recommendations, group and filter results, and customize charts to visualize your most important recommendations.
Note: Recommendations widgets are currently not included in the “Share Dashboard Report” feature.
Requirements to Configure a Recommendations Widget
You must have access to the Cost Optimization product, and have Recommendations configured to access recommendation widgets. For more information, see Cost Optimization – Recommendations.
Configuring a Recommendations Widget
1. Create a new Recommendations widget. For more information, see Widget Creation.
2. In the Name field, enter a name to display at the top of the widget.
Note: If the widget name exceeds 64 characters, an ellipses is displayed. Widget names also cannot include the following:
- operators and comparison functions used in LogicMonitor’s datapoint expression syntax
- commas (,), semicolons (;), or asterisks (*)
3. (Optional) In the Description field, enter a description for the widget.
4. In Recommendation Settings, choose a Visualization Type from the dropdown menu. The following options are available:
- Big Number: A total dollar amount of all active recommendations.
- Column Chart: A bar chart separated by the property in the Aggregate By menu.
- Donut Chart: A round chart separated by the property in the Aggregate By menu.
5. Choose an option from the Aggregate By dropdown menu. The following options are available:
- Account: Group recommendations by the account to which they apply.
- Recommendation Type: Group recommendations by the type of recommendation available.
- Resource: Group recommendations by the type of resource to which they apply.
6. In the Filter by field, you can filter recommendations based on selected properties or aliases and their values. For more information on dashboard filters, see Modern Dashboards.
7. In Display Settings, enter the number of results you wish to display (the default is 10.)
8. Toggle Group remaining (if any) as “Others” to group any recommendations not specified in Filter By in a separate category.
