v.184 Release Notes

Last updated on 27 March, 2024

Updated on October 04, 2023

  • Updated the sunset timeline of LogicMonitor REST API v1 and v2 to October 2024. See, Looking Ahead

Updated on March 27, 2023

  • Fixed an issue where you were unable to save updates to HTTP delivery or Ticket Defaults in the Connectwise integration.

Highlights

  • Feature Highlights: New UI workflows for editing PropertySource, AppliesTo Function, and SNMP SysOID Map modules; and Netscan support for multiple SNMPv3 credentials.
  • General Updates: New Azure Topology coverage for Microsoft Azure App Service Plan, Azure Virtual Machines, and Azure Virtual Machine Scale Set; support for 95th percentile calculations in Interface Bandwidth reports; and more.
  • Updated Monitoring: New modules to monitor Azure Virtual Hubs and Gateway services, Kubernetes Helm chart releases, and KSM container and summary for Watchdog.

Feature Highlights

New UI Workflows for Module Editors

You can now create and edit PropertySource, AppliesTo, and SNMP SysOID Map modules using the updated New UI workflow in your Modules Toolbox. We will update more module editors in upcoming releases. For more information, see the following articles in the product documentation:

Netscan Support for Multiple SNMPv3 Credentials

NetScan now attempts to match multiple SNMPv3 credential sets against hosts as it scans. You can import resources into LogicMonitor more quickly even when you are not sure which credential set a given resource is using. Previously, you had to first import resources using NetScan, and then manually set up SNMPv3 credentials on all of them. For more information, see Creating NetScans.

Note: We have introduced this feature as part of open beta. To use this feature, you must first enroll for the beta program. To enroll and to get more details, contact your LogicMonitor Customer Support Manager.

General Updates

Cloud Monitoring

Enhancements

  • LogicMonitor now requires you to use external ID for AWS monitoring. This change was made to comply with AWS recommended security practices.
  • New Azure Topology coverage for the following relationships: Virtual Machine Scale Sets to Virtual Machines, Virtual Machines to Network Interfaces to Public IPs, and App Service Plans to App Services. You may find this useful for using topology as a troubleshooting starting point for Azure environments and for getting a better visual representation of interconnecting resources.
  • Added a message to Technical Notes in ECS Cluster services to help users if they see unexplained gaps in data.

Fixed Issues

  • Updated the Azure RSS URL used for the Azure Emerging Issues EventSource to match the new URL used by Microsoft, to ensure issues are properly reported.
  • Updated the datapoint type in Microsoft_Azure_RecoveryServicesVaultSR to ensure data is reported properly.
  • Updated the Azure Databricks App & App Executor DataSources to reduce the number of API calls required and refine the instances discovered to be more relevant. You may find this useful for resolving data gaps that were caused by hitting API rate limits.
  • Corrected an issue where AWS ECS container insights always showed enabled. It now shows the correct value.
  • Corrected the descriptions for GCP_Billing_Cost* datasources to clarify that we gather the data via BigQuery not that it is the billing data for BigQuery.

LogicModules

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue when importing a DataSource or ConfigSource from the Repository to ensure that the Audit Log shows the previous version of the modules.

Logs

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue with the query autocomplete function that caused suggestions to appear inconsistently.

Reporting

Enhancements

  • You can now include 95th percentile calculations in the Interface Bandwidth report.

SaaS Monitoring

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue where the Microsoft_Office365_TeamsCallsQoS datasource was not returning data.

Topology

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue where topology map icons were being rearranged unexpectedly.

Looking Ahead

In this section, you will find announcements about upcoming beta features, updates about ongoing beta features, and information about the end-of-life of existing features.

Updates to User Role Permissions for Creating API Tokens

In an upcoming release, an API User with Administrator-level permissions, which allows complete access to your portal, will no longer be able to create API Tokens (LMv1 and Bearer). This change ensures that your portal is protected in case an API token is compromised. An Administrator can assign other API Users the ability to create API tokens by checking Allow Creation of API Token under Settings > User Profile.

New Usage Reporting

In an upcoming release, you will be able to view the cumulative monthly usage for your organization to help you understand how and where your environment is incurring the most data usage. Summaries of this information will be available directly in your LogicMonitor portal using visual components. You will be able to view the total cumulative usage for your selected product in a month-to-date usage summary view and in a graph format, and view a list of the areas in your portal with the top usage.

Sunset of LogicMonitor REST API v1 and v2

LogicMonitor REST API v1 and v2 will be removed in a future version of LogicMonitor. Support for API v1 and v2 will continue until October 2024. More information will be provided in upcoming releases.

Recommendation: Begin migrating to API v3 starting April 2023.
