v.170 Release Notes

Last updated on 27 March, 2024

Updated on July 6, 2022

    Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue that prevented you from sorting by roles on the Users settings page.

Updated on June 1, 2022

    Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where instance graphs for SNMP_Network_Interfaces DataSources displayed the message “Internal Error” when the percent() function is used to calculate the virtual datapoint.

Updated on May 30, 2022

  • LogicMonitor EA Collector 32.200 will no longer have MONGO as a separate Collector Type. You can still monitor MongoDB resources using other Collector Types. We do not expect this to impact many customers. For more information, see MongoDB Collector Type Removal Notice.

Highlights

  • General Updates: Added the ability to download the results of a log search in CSV, added the ability to monitor AWS Backup Vaults and Protected Resources, added Website object quota limits, fixed issues with alerts, and more.
  • Updated Monitoring: Added new LogicModules to monitor Cisco UCCX, Google Analytics, Kubernetes, Zoom, and more.

General Updates

AIOps

Enhancements

  • You now have the ability to specify a minimum and maximum boundary for defining alerts with Dynamic Thresholds.

Argus

Enhancements

  • Added new dashboards for monitoring PersistentVolumeClaims and Endpoints.

LM Cloud

Enhancements

  • Updated AWS FSx resources to use the name property instead of their ARN. This only affects the display name, and not the actual host name. For example, if you set a name for AWS FSx device, the name is displayed instead of the default “region-deviceId”. The changes made were in Cloud Collector to set the proper name.
  • You can now monitor both AWS Backup Vaults and AWS Backup Protected Resources. Monitoring these items alerts you when backups fail and for which resource. In addition, you can now use TopologySources to visualize the connections between the resource, the backup protected resource, and the vault.

LM Logs

Enhancements

  • You can now clone LogSources to create a new LogSource with similar functionality to an existing LogicSource.
  • You can now download the results of a log search in CSV format. The default maximum number of logs included in the download is 300 messages.

Push Metrics

Enhancements

  • Added support for sending scientific notations in datapoint value.

Distributed Tracing

Enhancements

  • Bearer Tokens are now masked in user portals. Users must save their bearer tokens in a secure vault or password manager.

User Interface

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue in the Alerts page that prevented alerts from sorting correctly when both active and cleared were displayed
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the alerts graph from displaying properly.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the use of special characters to filter alert fields.

Websites

Enhancements

  • Added a warning when Website Group quota limits are reached. You can see the limits in your Setting > Account Information page.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that caused website checks to give the wrong status.

Security improvements to prevent error messages from revealing API keys. Added support for Panorama-managed devices on Certificates DataSource.
(1 DataSource)
Cisco_FRU_Power
Moved instance level property SNMP get queries to try with catch on SNMPException to ensure successful execution on devices that do not have the OIDs queried. Added back a Cisco bug fix property that was inadvertently removed (see technical notes for details).
Note: The Collector groovy script runner must be set to agent because of a bug in SSE that prevents parsing of instance properties.
(1 DataSource)
AWS_Elasticsearch_DataNodes
Fixed typo in the datapoint that caused collection to fail.
(3 DataSources)
EMC_SPCache_NaviSecCli
EMC_SPPerformance_NaviSecCli

Microsoft_SQLServer_Troubleshooter

(2 PropertySources)
Microsoft_SQLServer_Connections
addCategory_WindowsFailoverCluster
Updated to properly handle illegal characters in instance names and wildvalues that prevented some instances from discovering and collecting data. Microsoft_SQLServer_Databases and Microsoft_SQLServer_GlobalPerformance also had appliesTo updates to exclude SQL Node servers which was previously causing a duplication in monitoring and alerting.
(1 DataSource)
Microsoft_SQLServer_SystemJobs
Updated appliesTo to exclude SQL Nodes to prevent double reporting/alerting*. Some Agent Jobs don’t write to the SQL table msdb.dbo.sysjobactivity and this caused data to be skipped for those jobs.

Note: This will break history for any SQL Nodes that were previously collecting data on this module as it will no longer apply.
(1 DataSource)
SilverPeak_System_Status
Excluded default, pass-through, and pass-through-unshaped tunnels from being counted as bad tunnels
(1 DataSource)
SNMP_Host_Uptime
Reverted recent change to UptimeAlert clear interval from 24 consecutive polls to immediately. Customer’s wanting to see extended visibility of these alerts should use alert routing to ensure they are notified about restarts.
(1 DataSource)
Ubiquiti_UniFi_AccessPoints
Added catches to ensure proper script routing when issues occur in HTTP handling.

Looking Ahead

In this section, you will find announcements about upcoming beta features, updates about ongoing beta features, and information about the end-of-life of existing features.

MongoDB Collector Type Removal Notice

The future LogicMonitor EA Collector 32.200 release will no longer have MONGO as a separate collector type. Upgrading to this release will remove all “mongo” settings from agent.conf. You can still use other collector types, such as SCRIPT, and DataSources to monitor MongoDB instances. For more information, see MongoDB Monitoring.

CUP API Deprecation Notice

Support for CUP (Customer, User, Password) API-based dashboards is being disabled with a tentative end on June 6th. This deprecation only affects dashboards that use CUP API links for authenticating and sharing dashboards. Other LogicMonitor dashboards will continue to work. If you are using the CUP API-based dashboards, work with your CSM to migrate to REST API or SSO-based dashboards.

Azure China Regions Monitoring Beta

Select users can opt-in and start monitoring their Azure China Cloud accounts. Contact LogicMonitor Support to enable this beta feature for your LogicMonitor portal. After the feature is enabled:

  1. Add a new Cloud account to be tied to your China-hosted region using the Cloud Account (Legacy) option.
  2. In the Permissions tab, select the China account checkbox.
  3. In the Services tab, select the China regions you want to monitor.

If you need additional assistance, contact LogicMonitor Support.

Old Alert Page Removal Notice

Support for the old Alert page (https://accountname.logicmonitor.com/santaba/uiv4/alert) has been removed. Issues related to the old Alert page are no longer being addressed and access to the page will be removed with an upcoming release.

To ensure that you are using the most up-to-date Alerts page, click Alerts in the LogicMonitor Navigation sidebar or append “/uiv4/alerts” to your LogicMonitor URL.
